No Bees on Sunflowers BUT

I have had a number of flowers on the sunflowers, and only once have I seen a bee on any them. It was an Eastern Carpenter Bee. I have seen more bumble bees and honeybees this year than ever before, but they are out in my front yard on our perennial border, mostly on the Joe Pye weed (Eupatorium), Bee Balm (Monarda) and dahlias. I posted a pic of a honey bee (I think) in the bee ID forum. When I say there are a lot of honeybees, I mean it - I see multiples every day. Since I saw the huge numbers on the cherry tree this year, I can only assume there is a hive very close by.

The butterflies, however, LOVE the sunflower. I watched a single Tiger Swallowtail spend more than 15 minutes working the first flower that bloomed.

I'm thinking if I move the pot with the sunflowers to the front yard, I might get some bees on it. I'll try that when I can - it's a big pot.

1 Sunflower has bloomed....

I have numorous bee & Bumble & native sightings but not on the sunflower, of the 5 remaining plants one has no bud at all, 2 are very sturdy and have lots of buds but no bloom, 1 has a lanky stock and 1 flower.
